PKF Welkom History

In 1949 Harry Simon started an auditing firm in Odendaalsrus in the Free State (Goldfields). He was joined by Dave Mymin in 1951. However, in 1952 Harry left the practice to concentrate on life insurance and Dave Mymin was joined by Les Brown. Two years later Mick Lapinsky joined the firm and they practiced under the name of Mymin Brown and Lapinksy. Les Brown suddenly passed away in 1957 and the remaining partners continued to practice under the old name.

In 1964 Abe Cornelissen joined the firm as a tarinee accountant and once qualified became a partner. The name of the firm then changed to Mymin Lapinsky & Cornelissen.

Brian Sacks became a partner in 1985 but left the practice in 1993 to join Chickenland (Pty) Ltd. Mick Lapinsky retired from the practice in 1987 but remained on as a consultant. In 1988 Leigh-Anne Meyerowitz joined the firm and became a partner in 1992. Pieter Britz also joined the firm as a trainee and subsequently became a partner.

In 1993 the firm split and the name changed to Mymin Lapinsky & Co until 1996 when it it changed to Fisher Hoffman Sithole and in 2001 to Fisher Hoffman PKF (Welkom) Incorporated and finally in 2005 to its current name of PKF (Welkom) Incorporated.
