PKF South Africa’s new Chairman and CEO lead the firm confidently into 2021
We are very pleased to share the exciting news of our newly elected Chairman and CEO.
Leadership changes are important and, when handled correctly, are very positive. They bring an opportunity to challenge the status quo and provide for the introduction of new ideas and diverse perspectives. Our PKF Board and staff are very confident that we have elected the right leaders to continue driving PKF SA forward with a renewed energy, into a future of growth and success.

Theo Vermaak (former PKF South Africa (“PKF SA”) Chairman) commenced his role with PKFSA in 2018, over the ensuing years the network grew in both size and strength. We are extremely grateful for the impact which Theo had on the PKF SA network and wish him well in his role as PKF International (“PKFI”) CEO. We are excited for what’s to come as Theo brings his passion, dedication, and leadership qualities to the international network.
We are delighted to announce that Ahmed Paruk has been elected as PKF SA Chairman and Candice Unsworth has been appointed as PKF SA CEO. In addition to this we have introduced an Executive Committee who will work alongside Candice and Butch Abbott (existing COO of PKF SA) going forward.
Ahmed Paruk currently represents PKF SA on the PKF Africa Board, which he chairs, and represents Africa on the PKFI Board. With his PKFI and Africa roles, he brings a wealth of experience to the PKF SA Chair.
Candice Unsworth, no stranger to the PKF Network, brings with her vast amounts of energy, passion, and a great love for the brand. Candice has held various leadership roles within the network, ranging from Technical and Training Manager at PKFI, being a member of the International Professional Standards Committee, and various other PKFI committees. Candice’s most recent position was COO of PKF Durban. Through these roles Candice has honed her technical knowledge and operational acumen which coupled with her affinity for technology and commitment to quality will help her in moving the network forward. We know that her commitment and strategic outlook will be beneficial to PKF SA, our staff, and clients.
A message from Candice:
“I am excited to be serving PKF SA, our teams and clients in my new role, PKF has been my home for many years and I look forward to this new chapter. It is no secret that there are many opportunities and challenges facing the profession and I believe that we at PKF SA are well positioned to capitalise on these. I look forward to engaging with you in the future and ask that if there is anything you would like to speak to me about, that you do not hesitate to get in contact, my email is candice.unsworth@pkfsa.co.za”.
Just as we at PKF SA are experiencing a period of change, we know that you too are experiencing tremendous change as a result of COVID19, the likes of which have not been seen before. We look forward to partnering with you as you navigate the changing landscape.
